You never choose your own piece
Your opponent hands it to you. Line up four pieces that share a trait, or make a 2×2 square of them, and you win.
Get handed a piece
Your opponent picks a piece for you. You have to play it.
Place it
Put it on any empty square. If it completes four that share a trait, you win.
Hand one back
Then pick the piece your opponent has to place. Check first that it can’t win them the game.
Four that share a trait
Place the fourth piece in a row, column, diagonal or 2×2 square where all four have one thing in common. It doesn’t matter who placed the other three.

How many players is Quads for?
One or two. Play alone against five computer levels, from Rookie to Grandmaster, or share one phone with a second player. You don't need an account or a second device.
Do I need an internet connection to play?
No. The computer opponents, pass-and-play, the daily puzzle and challenge codes all run on your device. Quads has no accounts.
What is the daily puzzle?
A new board position every day that can be solved in one or two moves. Everyone gets the same puzzle on the same day, and you can share your result as a challenge code.
Can I play against a friend remotely?
Not live. With Challenge a Friend you send a short code for a puzzle position. Your friend enters it on their own device and tries to solve it in fewer moves than you. It works offline.
